NYERERE NATIONAL PARK

Named after the founding president of Tanzania in 2020, If you’re looking for some quiet time for yourself then this park is for you. Previously named Selous Game Reserve, its status was changed to allow more protection and preservation of wild animals. It is secluded and provides visitors an experience of undisrupted wilderness where they will get a moment to soak in the beauty of the surrounding fauna and flora.

Its biodiversity and dramatic landscapes have made this park a World Heritage Site. Outdoor aficionados are sure to have an experience of a lifetime exploring the immaculate landscapes of Tanzania as they travel on foot.

Here’s why you need to visit Nyerere National Park:

It’s Massive! It’s Isolated.

The Selous Game Reserve was established in 1922 making it the first wildlife reserve in Africa. Not only is Selous the oldest reserve but it is also the largest with a size of 50,000 sq km before it was turned into a National Park. Because the park is located in such a secluded place, it doesn’t have the sort of crowd that other wildlife parks have.

According to UNESCO, there more than 2,000 species of plants in Nyerere and all those plants mean that there are many more animals lurking around behind every tree.
